" EFFECTS OF: PIPE BREAKS OUTSIDE CONTAINMENT" (TAC N0. M51936)
The NRC'has completed its review of the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP)
~: Topic 111-5.B, " EFFECTS OF PIPE BREAKS OUTSIDE CONTAINMENT" for the Haddam
' Neck Plant.
In~NUREG-0826, " Integrated Plant Safety Assessment. Systematic Evaluation Program," the-NRC staff-identified the following four~ issues-concerning pipe-breaks outside containment which were not adequately addressed:

CYAPC0 needs to verify that flooding and spray effects have been
' fully addressed, 2.
CYAPCO needs' to evaluate postulated breaks in the auxiliary feedwater system, 3.
.CYAPCO. needs to clarify the jet -impingement criter_ia used in the evaluation _of piping-in the. primary auxiliary building (PAB),: and 4.
CYAPC0 needs to evaluate' the effects of postulated turbine extraction
-steam line breaks on the switchgear room.
Oun evaluation of these issues is provided in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.
-Tne staff-has concluded that CYAPCU has adequately responded to the above issues. We' consider SEP Topic III-5.B. " EFFECTS OF PIPE BREAKS OUTSIDE
-CONTAINMENT" for the Haddam Neck Plant complete.
