Dear Dr. Grace:

SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 - RESTART PROGRAM FOR DRAWING UPDATE

Reference:

Letter from G. G. Zech to S. A. White dated November 10, 1986,

" Meeting Summary" During a meeting on October 23, 1986 TVA and NRC discussed various Sequoyah restart items.

As agreed in the meeting (reference) TVA is providing information concerning the drawing update program. The following actions will ensure that drawings required for startup and operation of unit 2 are legible and accurately reflect the plant configuration.

The primary set of drawings used for plant operational activities are maintained in the control room. From this primary drawing list Sequoyah Operations has defined those drawings which must be updated before restart.

This update will include:

1.

Reviewing and restoring designated control room drawings to resolve legibility concern.

2.

Upgrading seven specific logic diagrams for the Safety Injection and Reactor Protection Systems to as-constructed status.

3.

Deleting the remaining logic diagrams from as-constructed status. These drawings have already been removed from the control room.

4.

Removing all extraneous markings such as " incomplete" and "to be added" notations, as well as " design clouds," to ensure drawings only reflect the existing plant configuration.

5.

Utilizing a red-line process to mark up control room drawings to show any new modifications or findings of the Design Baseline and Verification Program which have not been included on updated drawings.

Reviewing and upgrading the primary drawing list for the unit 2 control room.

7.

Combining unit 1 and unit 2 control room drawings, from the list provided by Operations, into a single set of drawings applicable to both units, as needed for unit 2 restart.

8.

Labeling control room drawings to reflect their as-constructed status.

Completion of these actions will ensure thu acceptability of drawings necessary for restart and operations of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant unit 2.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with M. R. Harding at 615/870-6422.

Very truly yours, l
