Seaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Request for Inservice Test Interval Extension Gentlemen:
This letter is to request an extension of the first ten-year Inservice Test program interval for testing pumps and valves in accordance with ASME Section XI subsections IWP and IWV.
This request is similar to that previously granted for extension of the first ten-year Inservice Inspection program interval for ASME Section XI subsections IWB, IWC and IWD.
Extension is requested to align the IST program interval with the ISI program
- interval, then all activities required by ASME Section XI will be subject to the same code edition and addenda.
Potential scheduling inconsjstencies would be eliminated between the two programs and this would effectively reduce the administrative burden of implementing two separate editions and addenda of Section XI in accordance with two separate ten-year intervals.
The ISI interval extension was granted to. extend the ten-year interval by eleven (11) months and twenty-one (21) days (from September 30, 1986 to September 20, 1987).
The extension was based on a
later edition of Section XI which allows extension of the interval if a
plant has been out of service six (6) months or more.
Beaver
- Valley, Unit No. 1 was out of service from November 30, 1979 to November 20,
- 1980, therefore, this period was used as the ISI extension interval.
It is therefore requested that the extended date (September 20, 1987) be used as the beginning of the second ten-year IST interval and to determine the Code Edition and Section XI Addenda on which to base the second ten-year IST program.
A check in the amount of $150.00 is attached for payment of the required application fee in accordance with 10CFR170.
