REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION OF REQUIREMENTS FOR LOCAL LEAK PATE TESTING OF FUEL TRANSFER TUBES By your March 17, 1986 memorandum to Hugh L. Thompson, you requested that NRP review the requirenants of Appendix J,Section II.G. with regard to the applicability of Type B local leak rate testing to fuel transfer tube expansion joi.nts.
NRR has ccmpleted its review of the above subject and has concluded that fuel transfer tule expansion joints which form part of the containment pressure boundary, are required to be Type B tested. A more detailed discussion is provided in the enclcsed Safety Evaluation Report (SER).
Although the original request for clarification was directed toward Trojan, cur SER is equally applicable for other PWP. plants.
