VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 1.E. COMPLIANCE BULLETIN 86-03 POTENTIAL FAILURE OF MULTIPLE ECCS PUMPS DUE TO SINGLE FAILURE OF AIR-OPERATED VALVE IN MINIMUM FLOW RECIRCULATTON LINE In our letter serial number 86-677 dated November 12, 1986, we reported that we were continuing our investigation into the design and operation of the minimum flow recirculation valves in the Emergency Core Cooling System. We further stated that the investigation would take about 30 days and that we would report results by December 15, 1986.
As discussed with the Project Managers on December 12, 1986 and with a member of your staff on December 15, 1986, our investigation has not yet been completed.
We anticipate that the investigation will be completed in the near future and our intent is to subnit the results by January 15, 1987.
