September 15, 1986 Docket No. 99900751/86-01 RECO Industries, Incorporated ATTN: Mr. Stuart Point President Box 25189 Richmond, Virginia 23260 Thank you for your letter dated August 15, 1986, which described the corrective actions REC 0 has and will implement in response to the Items of Nonconformance identified in our letter dated July 28, 1986. The corrective action and preventive measures taken and/or planned for those Items of Nonconformance are satisfactory and additional information is not required. These actions will be reviewed during a future NRC inspection.
Nonconformance 85-01, Item B.1, was reviewed during the April 1986 inspection and is discussed as an open item in Inspection Report 99900751/86-01. During the inspection, the inspectors found that instructions had been revised to require monitoring of weld rod ovens at the start of each shif t.
However, these checks were not being made as required. This item was not addressed in your August 15, 1986 letter.
Please provide additional information describing how REC 0 will ensure that the weld rod auxiliary storage oven temperatures are being checked at the start of each working shif t, as required by Section 8.4120 of the REC 0 QA Manual.
