REPORT FOR January 26 - February 1,1987 1.

.DEFUELING Defueling continued using the Airlift Defueling System. The rate of N

defueling using this system is not as great as originally M

anticipated and only one canister was filled during the weak using J

this method. Ilowever, the Airlift Defueling System is considered

,m' useful in picking up material which might not be lifted using other

ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING g

US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sanple analysis results

show that Till site liquid effluents are in accordance with t

regulatory limits, ilRC requirements, and the City of Lancaster g

Agreement.

Till water effluents are sanpled from the station (Units 1 and 2) u discharge and analyzed by EPA. Gama spectrum analyses of the seven daily composited sanples for January 10 - 17, 1987 indicated no 1,.

Till-2 related radioactivity.

The Lancaster water works intake composited seven daily samples January 11 - 17, 1987. The gama spectrum analyzed by EPA showed no reactor related radioactivity.

MEETINGS On January 27, 1987, Dr. Willian D. Travers spoke before the Lancaster Kiwanis in Lancaster, PA on the current status of the THI-2 cleanup project.

On January 28, 1987, Dr. Uillian D. Travers gave a prescatation in Rockville, MD on the status of the TNI-2 cicanup project to the Center for Devices and Radiological llealth, Department of Ikalth and llunan Services.

The next reting of the Advisory Panel for the Decontenination of Three Mile Island Unit 2 will be held on February 26, 1987, at the Lancaster Council Chambers, Public Safety Building, 201 Dorth Duke Strcat, Lancaster, PA. The NRC and GPU Nuclear staf fs will respond to the Panel's questions on the liccr,see's proposed disposition of the accident-generated water and on the NRC staff's Draf t Environmental Irpact Statenent on the disposal of accident-generated water.

There will be an opportunity for public cornent.

The ueeting will tentatively begin about 3:30 PH and contiaua into the evening.

The exact tine for the meting will be announced in the future.
