This is to confirm a telephone conversation with Mr. Cunningham on January 30, 1987, concerning the Model No. 1600 packaging (cask).

It is our understanding that all Model No.1600 casks owned by General Electric Company have been taken out of service. The casks are to remain out of service until (1) all casks have been inspected (dye penetrate) at the weld joint between the outer shell and base plate, (2) no cracks are detected on any cask at the weld joint between the outer shell and base plate, and (3) we are provided written notification of the test results. Should a crack be found in any cask, all casks are to remain out.of service until such time that the cause of the weld crack has been determined and satisfactory corrective action agreed upon.
