Vogtle Electric Generating Plant-Units 1 and 2; 50-424, 50-425; Non-Seismic Electric Unit Heater Supports; Letter GN-914 dated May 20, 1986; Letter GN-1001 dated June 15, 1986 Attention: Mr. J. Nelson Grace In previous correspondence on this subject, Georgia Power Company described a potentially reportable condition whereby documentation was not available to demonstrate the structural adequacy of electric unit heater supports mounted to the walls and ceilings of some safety-related building structures.
Since these supports are classified as Seismic Category 2, the possibility of unacceptable interactions with Seismic Category 1 components during Safe Shutdown Earthquake (SSE) conditions had to be evaluated.
Georgia Power Company has completed its evaluation of this condition and has concluded that the heater supports are adequate to meet Seismic Category 2-over-1 requirements.
The refore,
this condition is not reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) or 10 CFR 21.
