Dear Sir:
Radiological Environmental Monitoring Technical Specification 3.12.2 requires that a land use census be performed to find the location of the nearest garden within 5 miles in each of the 16 meteorological sectors around the Trojan Nuclear Plant. Technical Specification 6.9.2 requires a special report be made within 30 days of the end of the current semiannual period if a garden location is found which results in a calculated dose larger than the values resulting from gardens found in the previous land use census.
In August 1986, the annual land use census found a garden which yielded a calculated dose that was 1.17 times the equivalent value for the nearest garden identified in 1985. This new garden is 0.6 miles from the Trojan Nuclear Plant in the north sector while the nearest 1985 garden was at 0.6 miles from the Trojan Nuclear Plant in the north-northwest sector.
The meteorological conditions result in the north sector garden having the slightly larger calculated dose than the north-northwest sector garden.
i In accordance with Technical Specification 3.12.2, the garden in the north-northwest sector will continue to be a sampling location for the radiological environmental monitoring program.
