1 Dr.J. Nelson Grace SPR 86-011 August 28,1986 EVENT DESCRIPTION On August 11,1986 at approximately 1810 hours0.0209 days
0.503 hours
0.00299 weeks
6.88705e-4 months
, a loss of indication on meteorological instrumentation was identified by operators in the main control room. The inoperability of the meteorological instrumentation was due to a lightning strike on or near the meteorological instrumentation tower. The instrumentation affected included the power supply to the signal translator for wind speed and direction, the ten meter wind speed instrument, the forty meter temperature instrument, the ten and sixty one meter wind direction instruments, and the wind direction recorder.
CORRECTIVE ACTION All instrumentation was repaired or replaced and returned to service on August 27,1986. The licensee will conduct an evaluation of the adequacy of the lightning protection on the meteorological tower.
