Dear Mr. Thorne:

Attached is a letter from Transnuclear, Inc. requesting an amendment to export license XUO8627 to increase the quantity of natural uranium authorized for export by an additional 218,545 kilograms. The material will be enriched at -

a Eurodif and returned to the U.S. for use as fuel in light-water power reactors.

Before taking action on this amendment request, we would appreciate your views in accordance with established procedures as to whether the proposed export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy'Act as amended by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act of 1978 (NNPA). The export will involve Canadian materials.
