Dear Sir:

This letter is to provide a description of activities being conducted to resolve the Human Engineering Discrepancies (HEDs) at LaSalle County Station. These HEDs were identified in a Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) for which a summary report was submitted in Reference (a). That submittal identified the HEDS, the corrective actions to resolve those HEDs and a tentative schedule for those actions. The schedule provided in Reference (a) was predicated on prompt NRC approval for Commonwealth Edison's disposition of each of the HEDs.

Since the submittal of reference (a), some of the minor items have been completed. However, no action has been taken towards the design of HEDs requiring major changes. The work on these HEDs is awaiting NRC approval of the proposed resolutions.

l The new schedule (attached) has been prepared to complete the changes in a timely manner while avoiding subjecting the operators to continually changing panels or rework of major changes which would involve additional costs. One significant problem identified is that the Containment Monitoring Panels (PM 13 J) must be completely rebuilt. This will be difficult during a regular refueling outage and requires much effort to effectively plan other activities around this rebuild effort.

• The impletation dates are based on Unit refueling outage after the OCRDR submittal. This is consistance with the datas in the DCRDR, Final Swanary Report. The following outage schedule is assumed for implementation, l

I Note 1: If the NRC's approval is obtained prior to June 1987, the resolution to this HED will be implemented during the February 1988 and July 1988 refueling outages for Unit I and 2, respectively.

Note 2: If the NRC's approval is obtained prior to June 1987, the resolution to this HED will be implemented during the July 1989 and March 1990 refueling outages for Unit 1 and Unit 2 respectively.

Note 3: If the NRC's approval is obtained prior to June 1987, the resolution to the HEO will be implemented during the January 1991 and August 1991 refueling outages for Unit 1 i
