To perform an inspection of GENE activities with regard to the supply of nuclear reactor vessel material surveillance capsules.
BACKGROUND:
The staff is assessing the adequacy of documentation supporting the preparation of nuclear reactor vessel surveillance capsules to assure the materials used in the surveillance capsules are representative of the reactor vessel materials.
SCOPE AND ASSIGNMENTS:
j Review the supporting documentation associated with the supply of the reactor vessel surveillance capsules for vessels manufactured by Chicago Bridge and Iron (CB&l), including the following documents, as available:
CMTR from vessel material manufacturers (e.g., Lukens) to the vessel manufacturer (CB&l).
Traceability of surveillance capsule material to reactor vessel material.
Shop traveler documents that record the relationship of the surveillance capsule materials to the reactor vessel and parent material.
Work package documents showing weld information, including welding procedures used, weld material, heat flux, etc.
Quality assurance of surveillance capsules.
Documentation relating to preparation of materials into surveillance capsule specimens.
Shipping documents to facility (GE Wilmington) assembling the materials into surveillance capsules.
Final work packages documenting placing correct materials in capsules.
Shipping documents to licensees.
