NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) CHEMICAL SAFETY INSPECTION REPORT 70-7002/99-203

Dear Mr. Adkins:

On June 11,1999, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed a routine and announced chemical safety inspection at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS).

The enclosed report represents the results of that inspection.

The inspection was conducted at the PORTS facility from June 7-11,1999. The areas reviewed during the inspection are identified in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of facility walk-throughs, selective examinations of procedures and records, and interviews with personnel. Based on the results of this inspection, no violation of NRC requirements was identified.

In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this report, please contact me at (301) 415-7156.
