Your letter of June 10,1999, to Chairman Jackson related to prooosed changes to 10 CFR 50.59 has oeen referred to me for response. In your letter, you asked the Commission to make certain changes to the final rule and Statement of Considerations contained in ,
SECY-99130 The staff provided its views comments to the Commission about the specific )
proposals in your letter to support Commission action on the rulemaking. The Commission i affirmed the final rule on June 22,1999.
We look forward to future interactions with the NEl on the planned revision to the regulatory !
guidance contained in NEl 96-07, as well as on supplemental guidance for Part 72 facilities, I such that the implementation schedule approved in the final rule can be met. Please prov de us with a schedule that defines when the revised NEl-96-07 will be available for staff review and endorsement.
