- 1) To ensure understanding of procedure prerequisites prior to implementation of the procedure.
- 2) To upgrade the quality of the procedure prerequisite / initial conditions as required.
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1) Prior to the initial use of any procedure being used in the Control Room, the Shift Supervisor and Operator will review the prerequisites / initial conditions section to ensure clarity and understanding of the required conditions.
(SEE NEXT PAGE - PREREQUISITES POLICY) for implementation guidance.
- 2) Any comments / changes should be sent to the Procedures Technical Writer for enclusion into the procedure via Attachment I.
- 3) Each procedure which is reviewed and verified shall be initialed and dated as complete on Attachment II.
THIS STANDING ORDER SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL ALL NONROUTINE OR INFREQUENTLY PERFORMED PROCEDURES ARE REVIEWED.

Order No. 1-87-04 ESTABLISHING PREREQUISITE CONDITIONS PURPOSE: TO ESTABLISH DEPARTMENTAL POLICY IN DETERMINING HOW TO VERIFY PREREQUISITE CONDITIONS ARE MET.
METHODS: USE THE FOLLOWING MEANS IN DESCENDING ORDER TO VERIFY PREREQUISITE CONDITIONS.
1.
POSITIVE INDICATIONS OF SYSTEM READINESS a.
Use available instruments
- System pressure
- System flow
- Bus voltage
- Computer AND b.
Use indicating lights
- Electrical power is available
- Valves in correct position AND c.
Use associated annunciators
- Presence of expected alarms
- Absence of abnormal alarms AND d.
Dispatch an Operator to locally verify component status AND
- 2. IF POSITIVE INDICATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND/
OR DISPATCHING AN OPERATOR IS NOT POSSIBLE OR l
PRACTICABLE. (i.e. ALARA, Plant Conditions) a.
Verify system configuration by using the current valve / breaker alignment on file b.
Review of LC0 Book, Equipment Clearance Log, or Temp. Modification Book Lifted Wire / Jumper for status.of abnormal components c.
