SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION-REPORT NO. 50-83/87-01
This refers to .the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspection conducted by
B.: K. Revsin on February 9-11, 1987.
The inspection included a review of
activities authorized for your University. of Florida Training. Reactor . facility.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those
members of your staff identified in the enclosed inspection report.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these
areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities
in progress.

The' inspection findings indicate that certain activities appeared to violate NRC
requirements.
The violations and references to pertinent requirements are
described in the enclosed inspection report. The elements to be included in your
response to the enclosed Notice of Violation are described in the Notice.
The violation pertaining to the transportation of radioactive material described
,
in the enclosed Inspection Report is under consideration for escalated
enforcement action.
Accordingly, the violation has not been included in the
i
enclosed Notice of Violation and no response to this violation is required.
However, please be advised that the number and characterization of the violations
.
pertaining to the transportation of radioactive material may change as a result

of further NRC review.
You will be advised by separate correspondence of the
results of our deliberations.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
