Extension of Comment Period AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Comission.

ACTION: Petitions for rulemaking: Extension of coment period.

SUMMAP,Y: The Nuclear Regulatory Comission is extending the coment period on two petitions for rulemaking (PRM-50-45) filed by Kenneth G. Sexton and (PRM-50 a6) filed by the State of Maine. The Comission has been requested to extend the comment period in order to provide more time for the public to submit coments. The two petitions request that the Comission amend its regulations that pertain to emergency planning.

DATES: The coment period for PRM-50-45 and PPM-50-46 has been extended to April 15, 1087. Coments received after this date will be considered if it is practical to do so l'ut assurance of consideration cannot be given except as to comments received before this date.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: On October 6, 1986 (51 FR 35518), the NPC published a notice of a petition for rulemaking filed by Kenneth G. Sexton. The petition requested the Conmission to amend its regulations to require that current methodologies and analytical techniques be used to reevaluate the established Energency Planning Zone (EPZ) for nuclear power plants. The notice reouested public comment nn the petition and established a comment closing date of December 5,1986. The comment peried for this petition was extended to March 4, 1987.

On December 30,1986 (51 FR 47026), the NPC published a notice of a petition for rulemaking filed by the State of waine. The petitioner requested the Commission to amend its regulations in three areas pertaining to emergency planning . The notice requested public comment on the petition and established a comment closing date o' Marcii 2,1987.

The Comission has been reouested to extend the coment period for both petitions in order to provide more time to submit public coments. This-notice extends the comment period for both petitions for rulemaking.
