The Commission was briefed by the National Academy of Science's Committee on Nuclear Safety Research on its December 8, 1986 report entitled, " Revitalizing Nuclear Safety Research."
The following representatives of the NAS committee sus.marized the conclusions of their report

- Theodore Greenwood
- Lawrence McCray Chairman Zech requested the Secretary to assure that the committee members are provided with a copy of SECY-87-53.

Chairman Zech solicited his follow Commissioners to provide him with their thoughts on the NAS recommendations and staff responses.
Commissioner Asselstine emphasized the nood to reformat future presentations of RES programs to be understandable by ruviewers outside RES.
