March 2, 1987 Docket No. 50-245 A04135 Re: NUREG-0737, Supplement 1 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn:

Document Control Desk Washington D.C.

20555 Gentlemen:

Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No.1 Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737 Control Room Design Review Implementation Plan In a lett.er dated June 12, 1984'*',

the NRC Staff issued an Order confirming various commitments made by Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) on behalf of Millstone Unit No. I regarding the implementation of Supplement 1

to NUREG-0737.

This Order requires the submittal by March 2,

1987 of the Control Room Design Review (CRDR) program plan and a

schedule for the submittal of the CRDR Summary Report.

Accordingly, NNECO hereby submits fifteen (15) copies of the Control Room Design Review Implementation Plan for Millstone Unit No. 1.

d In addition, NNECO commits to submitting the CRDR Summary Report for Millstone Unit No.

1 by February 28, 1989.

The time scheduled for this CRDR takes into account the time required to properly prepare a

full scale mockup of the control room.

Previous CRDR's conducted by NNECO have demonstrated the benefits of having a full scale mockup.

Facility limitations at the No. 1 Millstone site prevented preparation of the Millstone Unit control room mock-up until this time.

l I

A schedule for performing the various phases of the CRDR is included in the CRDR Implementation Plan.

In accordance with (1) D.M.Crutchfield letter to W.G.Counsil,

" Orders Confirming Licensee Commitments on Emergency

Response

Capability (Generic Letter 82-33, NUREG-0737)", dated June 12, 1984.
