GeorgiaIbwer b U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission March 12, 1987 Page Two Based on a review of the NRC Inspection and Enforcement Manual Temporary Instruction 2515/73 ( 1spection Requirements for I. E.Bulletin 85-03, " Motor Operated Valve Cohnon Mode Failures During Plant Transients Due to Improper Switch Settings"), GPC understands that "The proof of the acceptability of the switch settings will usually be a signature or other similar test". Based on this guidance, GPC will meet the Bulletin requirements using the following methodology for valves that fall under the Bulletin requirements:

1.

All valves will have signature analysis performed on them in a no flow, no differential pressure (dP) condition.

2.

A number of the valves will be stroke tested at system operating pressure and flow conditions while connected to signature analysis equipment.

3.

When feasible, all valves will be stroke tested at operating flow and pressure during normal surveillance testing.
