The Commission was briefed by the staff on the December 9,
- 1986, Surry Unit 2 feedwater line rupture event.
The Commission made the following requests of the staff:
1.
Provide the Commission information on scheduled completion dates for the generic issue on check valves.
Consider elevating the issue on the priority list.

Provide the Commission with a list and intended staff approach for the 11 plants which have not submitted a commitment to inspect their piping systems for severe pipe
' wall thinning.

Provide the Commission with a paper on NRC's jurisdiction and possible role in protecting onsite personnel where there is no radiological hazard, but where lack of attention could lead to hazardous working conditions.
