SUMMARY
OF MEETING CONCERNING MODEL NO. 2000 PACKAGE DESIGN A meeting was held at the request of General Electric Company (bE) on January 14, 1987, at the NRC offices in Silver Spring, MD. The following persons attended the January 14 meeting:
'GE NRC Raul J. Pomares H. W. Lee Robert W. Damitzel D. T. Huang R. H. Odegaarden Discussion On February 27, 1986, a denial was issued to GE for their application dated October 31, 1984, as supplemented on October 22, 1985.
The proposed cask design has been revised to provide stainless steel forgings on the top and bottom of the cask. The inner and outer wall thicknesses have been increased from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. The lid has been recessed within the cask body to provide additional protection for the drop. tests. Staff concerns raised during a September 25, 1986, meeting pertaining to the rigidity of the closure seal area and the bottom of the cask (cask drain line) are addressed by these modifications.

JAN 16 587 GE proposed to develop force / deflection curves for three. drop orientations (e.g., top, side, and corner) by static method for the cask overpack.
Proposed overpack modeling was discussed. Several concerns were identified which are to be resolved before conducting the tests to ensure that adequate data is obtained.
No schedule for resubmission was established.
