IE BULLETIN 80-06 CONCERNS Dear Mr. Denton From the SER, Confirmatory Item 25 states:
"A test, to verify that the actual installed instrumentation and controls are in compliance with the requirements of IE Bulletin 80-06, will be conducted as part of the preoperational tests. On the basis of the applicant's commitment to such testing, the staff considers this issue resolved subject to confirmation that the test has been done."
This testing has been completed as part of preoperational test 1-300-01 which verified position upon resetting from the ESFAS initiation signals.
The test results confirm that the ESF equipment performs in accordance with IE Bulletin 80-06 and remains in the emergency mode as designed.
The steam generator blowdown isolation valves and the main / bypass feedwater control valves, which changed state af ter reset of the ESFAS signals, performed as designed due to the nature of the test configuration.
During a normal configuration'the design is such that these items would not have changed state after ESFAS reset.
Based on the results of the testing described above, GPC considers Confirmatory Item 25 to be resolved.
