TROJAN NUCLEAR PLANT DOCKET NO: 50-344 ,

SulHARY OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE DATE: 1-8-87 COMPLETED BY: F. J. Ulmer TELEPHONE: 503-556-3713 Ext. 495 OPERATIONS:

The Trojan Nuclear Plant entered the month of December at full power. On Deceniber 9,1986 at 1800 the plant decreased power to 55% to isolate and repair leaking condenser tubes. A total of 22 tubes were plugged in the B shell of the B Train condenser. At 2130 December 10, 1986 the plant returned to full power operation and continued at full power through the end of the month with the exception of a power decrease to 85% for testing on December 25 that lasted 8 hours9.259259e-5 days
0.00222 hours
1.322751e-5 weeks
3.044e-6 months
.

A ruptured feed pump suction line at the Surry Nuclear Plant Unit 2 prompted Trojan's Engineering and Maintenance groups to ultrasonically test and evaluate the suction lines at Trojan's Main Feed Pumps, and various other high energy lines of concern.

No problems were found.

The Trojan Plant exceeded its 1985 Unit Capacity Factor record of 75.1% and set l a new plant record of 76.6% on December 31, 1986.

l Primary to secondary steam generator leakage remained constant at i gallon per day I and the RCS dose equivalent iodine concentration is 12% of the specification limit.

MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE:

1. A Train ESF equipment outage occurred for Preventative Maintenance.
2. B Train ESF equipment outage occurred for Preventative Maintenance.
3. CB-1 Control Room emergency ventilation fire dampers were upgraded to 3 hour3.472222e-5 days
8.333333e-4 hours
4.960317e-6 weeks
1.1415e-6 months
I rated dampers. l MISCELLANEOUS MAINTENANCE:
1. Plugged 22 leaking condenser tubes in B Train condenser, 8 Shell.
2. Com31eted Incore/Excore detector calibration and adjustment in accordance with Tec1nical Specifications.
3. Ultrasonically tested Main Feed Pump suction piping (see coments above).
4. Performed Triannual Fire Protection System Flow Test.
5. Replaced Incore neutron flux detector cable unit due to a stripped helix.
