Dear Sir:

We wish renewal of the Quality AssugncgPgogram Approval for Radioactive

'W4>

Material Packages No. 0561.

We are still awaiting EPA and other approvals for disposal of the slightly radioactive (estimated 20 microcuries) and chemical lead in the package. We hope this approval will be granted and the package disposed of within the next six months.

I believe UCSB, as an educational institution with borrowed reactor fuel (from D0E) is exempt from the $150.00 fee.

If this is not so, please let me know or bill the University of California, Department of Chemical and Nuclear Engineering, Santa Barbara.

Sincerely, bW A. Edward Profio Professor Reactor Director cc; Frank Gallagher, EH&S e
