PLANT OPERATIONS

SUMMARY

- OCTOBER 1988 The following is a summary of plant operations for September 1988.

The plant operated at 100% power until September 4 at 0040 hours4.62963e-4 days
0.0111 hours
6.613757e-5 weeks
1.522e-5 months
when power was reduced to 65% load, in order to conduct a routine Turbine Valve Test. The test was complete by 0349 hours0.00404 days
0.0969 hours
5.770503e-4 weeks
1.327945e-4 months
, and the unit reached 100% power at 0725.

On September 27 at 0912 hours0.0106 days
0.253 hours
0.00151 weeks
3.47016e-4 months
, the plant commenced a load reduction to 97% power to replace the positioner on #2 feedwater regulating valve.

At 0955 hours0.0111 days
0.265 hours
0.00158 weeks
3.633775e-4 months
, the positioner was replaced and the plant returned to 100% power by 1015 hours0.0117 days
0.282 hours
0.00168 weeks
3.862075e-4 months
. The unit operated at 100% load until 2004 hours0.0232 days
0.557 hours
0.00331 weeks
7.62522e-4 months
, when the plant reduced load due to an apparent difficulty with "C" Circulating Water Pump. This problem was discovered during routine backwash of the water boxes. At 2120 hours0.0245 days
0.589 hours
0.00351 weeks
8.0666e-4 months
, the plant reached 50% power to break vacuum in the box.

On September 28 it was determined that the problem was a pump coupling. At 0330 hours0.00382 days
0.0917 hours
5.456349e-4 weeks
1.25565e-4 months
, the load was increased to a 65% power hold while replacing the pump coupling.

The plant stayed at 65% power for the remainder of the month.
