Dear Mr. Denton:
In a recent discussion, December 23, 1986, your staff requested clarification and additional information relative to the referenced letter. This request concerned plant operations staff actions during the interim period between licensing and completion of the plant safety and monitoring system (PSMS) V&V program.
The referenced letter committed Georgia Power to implement procedures whereby selected control board displayed data would be compared with the like PSMS data on a weekly basis. This includes the extended range neutron flux l
information that is displayed on a local panel rather than on the control board. GPC also committed to develop and implement procedures to determine information, independent of the PSMS, for which there was no direct displayed l
backup.
In addition to the above, GPC commits to develop and have available to the operations staff acceptance criteria which instructs the operator as to when r
the PSMS displayed information is unacceptable and therefore, when the control board or local panel displayed information or information derived from procedures should be used in place of PSMS dat.a.
