207-882-6321 Report Months Septembor, 1988 NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES At the beginning of the month, the unit was operating at 499 MW electric gross, approximately 65% power, utilizing one of two main output trcnsformers.
Maine Yankee, with guidance from General Electric, investigated the limiting conditions for single main output transformer operation.
The 11 citing condition is based on transformer winding temperature.
A ceries of power increases was performed to determine the maximum power wichout excteding transformer limiting conditionst On 2 September, output was raised to S70 MW electric gross.
On 3 September, output was raiced te 587 MW electric-gross.
On 4 September, output was raised to 597 MW electric-gross.
On 9 September, output was raisod to 605 MW electric gross during the cooler portions of the night.
On 12 September, output was raised to 615 MW electric gross as was allowed by the cooler nighttime temperatures.
A maximum operating level of 615 MW electric-gross, approximately 76% power, was established. Unit controlled as necessary,. based on the daily temperature output was variations, to prevent exceading main output transformer limitations.
For the remainder of the month, unit outout was controlled to maintain coin output transformer winding temperature within allowable limits.
