APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Cintichem, Inc.
Docket Nos. 50-54,70-687 Tuxedo, New York 10987 License Nos. R-81, SNM-639 As a result of the inspection conducted on December 2-5, 1986, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR 2, Appendix C), the following violation was identified:
10 CFR 20.203(f) requires that each container of specified amounts of licensed material bear a durable, clearly visible label identifying the radioactive contents.
The label is required to bear the radiation caution symbol and the.words " Danger" or " Caution - Radioactive Material".
Contrary to the above, on December 2,1986, fifteen 55 gallon drums containing radioactive material in the Waste Pit area of Building 2 were not labeled as required. Additionally, on December 3, 1986, seven SS gallon drums containing radioactive material in the hallway adjacent to the Waste Evaporator, Building 2, were not labeled as required.
This is a Severity Level IV Violation.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Cintichem, Inc. is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter which transmitted this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective ste9s which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.
