The NRC staff met with Commonwealth Edison and Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station management on February 19,1999. This management meeting was held at the Quad Cities Station and was open to public observation. Enclosure 1 contains the associated meeting summary. Enclosure 2 contains the handout provided by Commonwealth Edison during the meeting.

Management Meeting for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station February 19 Manaaement Meetina

Summary:

This management meeting was conducted as a part of continuing periodic oversight of the performance of the Quad Cities Station. This meeting was used to review performance at Quad Cities over the past 12 months and the progress made on improving the material j

condition of the plant. As expected, monthly indicators reflect the long shutdowns and the plant scrams in the first half of 1998. Most performance trends since that time showed substantial improvement. Comed representatives presented information on the work that had been done, and areas for further work and improvements. NRC representatives discussed with Comed representatives the specifics of remaining equipment problems and performance concerns. In I

particular, progress on the fire protection improvement program and plant material condition

!mprovements and challenges were discussed at length.
