In response to your letter dated December 24, 1986, we have registered you in accordance with the provisions of 49 CFR 5173.471 as a user of the Model Number N-55 packaging with Package Identification Number USA /9070/8( )F.
If your activities are subject to the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71, it will be necessary for you to obtain an approved quality assurance (QA) program prior to the registration as a package user or the delivery of licensed material to a carrier for transport pursuant to 10 CFR Part 71. Should this be the case and to assist you in preparing your QA program description, enclosed is a copy of Regulatory Guide 7.10 " Establishing Quality Assurance Programs for Packaging Used in the Transport of Radioactive Material."
Unless an exemption is provide:f by 10 CFR 5170.11, an application fee of $150, as required by 10 CFR 5170.31, should be included with your application for QA approval.
