DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Commitment Change: Change to Completion Date for Commitments in 60 and 180 Day Responses to Generic Lett9r 96-05, Periodic Verification of Design-Basis Capability of Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valves in letter dated November 16,1996, NSP made the required 60 day response to Generic Letter 96-05. In this respense, NSP committed to, "... continuing our existing Generic Letter 89-10 Periodic Verification program until the Unit 1 1997 fall outage at which time the revised program described in the 180 day response will go into effect."
In letter dated March 17,1997, NSP made the required 180 day response to Generic Letter 96-05. This response stated," Prairie Island will establish MOV risk and margin categorizations to support implementation of static testing at a frequency consistent with the JOG periodic verification program prior to the end of the Fall 1997 refueling outage of Unit 1."
Formalimplementation of the JOG (Joint Owners Group) periodic verification program has been delayed at Prairie Island because the approved JOG risk ranking approach g
wasn't formally issued until July of 1998. Prairie Island began using risk and margin I
characterizations for establishing MOV static testing frequency during the Fall 1998 h
refueling outage of Unit 2. Prairie Island willrevise MOVprogram procedures to incorporate the JOG periodic verification program into the plant MOV program by May 1,1999.
