i CHAIRMAN JACKSON: Hi. Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. This is an Affirmation Session.' We have one item to come before us this aftemoon. Before l

.I ask the Secretary to lead us through the item for affirmation, do my colleagues have any comments they wish to make?

COMMISSIONER DICUS: No.

i CHAIRMAN JACKSON: if not, Madam Secretary, please proceed.

i MS. VIETTI-COOK The Commission is being asked to act on an order responding to New England Power Company's (NEPCO) petition for intervention and summary relief, or in the alternative, a request for hearing and United liluminating Company's (United) petition for intervention. The Commission has voted to approve a Memorandum and Order which grants NEPCO's intervention petition and request for hearing, limits the scope of that hearing, and denies United's late-filed request to

. intervene. NEPCO's petition for summary relief is deferred. The Commission appointed Judge Moore from the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board to serve as Presiding Officer for this proceeding under Subpart M. Commissioner McGaffigan would have preferred that the Commission, or a part thereof, be Presiding Officer in this transfer proceeding. Would the Chairman and Commissioners in this room please L
