Dear Mr. Thorne:
Enclosed pleast find an application dated July 15, 1986 from Edlow International Company requesting a license to export to Switzerland 150,0')0 kilograms of solid depleted uranium netal. The natorial will be exported to the CERN Laboratory in Switzerland where it will be used in a detector for high energy physics research.
Although the proposed export normally would not require Executive Branch review under current interagency procedures, NRC would appreciate Executive Branch views on the proposed license, in accordance with established procedures, because of recent concerns regarding shipments of source material.
