A Home Transportation Company tractor-trail'or carrying radioactive spent resin from the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant to the Chem-Nuclear Services facility at Barnwell, South Carolina was involved in a multi-vehicle I accident on I-95 near Rocky Mount, North Carolina at 6:30 a.m. on November 9. Representatives of the North Carolina Radiation Protection Branch and the Highway Patrol responded to the scene. There was no damage to or leakage from the radioactive material container. The truck driver received minor injuries.
The State of North Carolina has responded to several news media inquiries.
