Subject:
IMPLEMENTATION OF TMI ACTION ITEM II.k.3.5, " AUTOMATIC TRIP OF REACTOR COOLANT PUMPS", GENERIC LETTER NO. 86-05
Dear Mr. Miraglia:
Generic Letter No. 86-05 of May 29, 1986 included a Safety Evaluation of the Babcock & Wilcox Owners Group Submittals on Reactor Coolant Pump Trip.
The generic information provided by the BWOG was found to be acceptable, however it did not address plant-specific concerns about instrumentation uncertainties, potential reactor coolant pump problems and operator training and procedures. By our letter dated July 30, 1986, the District committed to j
provide the information by December 31, 1986.
The District has initiated an activity to collect the information requested by the generic letter. However, because of the large amount of de<ign engineering work required for restarting Rancho Seco, and the timing of that work, we will not be able to provide all the information requested until March 31, 1987.
l If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Robert Little at (916) 732-6021.
Sincerely, n
