LaSalJe County Station Unit 2 l

Investigation of Anomalous Behavior of Differential Pressure Switches NRC Docket No. 50-374

Dear Mr. Denton:

On June 1,1986, La%11e County Station Unit 2 experienced anomalous behavior of a number of Static "O" Ring differential pressure switches during a reactor water level transient. As a result of this event Commonwealth Edison initiated a comprehensive investigation of the root causes of the unexpected switch behavior.

Enclosed is a draft copy of our report titled " Report of investigation of Static "O" Ring Differential Pressure Switches" dated July 18, 1986.

We believe this report provides the necessary information for the Staff to conclude that the anomalous behavior of the switches is now understood, that compensating actions can be taken and that the plant can be safely returned to operation.

Please ditect any questions regarding this report to this office.

Very truly yours, r L/
