Pursuant to 10 CFR Part 71, Certificate of Compliance No. 6144 for the Model !!o. B-2 package is amended to authorize additional contents as follows:

Americium-241 as contained in plating solution packaged in 5-gallon plastic containers with no rore than two 5-ga11on plastic containers in each DOT Spec. 17H or 17C 55-gallon drum. The total radioactivity of the solution must not exceed 0.42 Cf. The space between the 5-gallon plastic containers and S5-gallon drums shall be completely filled with absorbent material. The absorbent material shall be of sufficient quantity to absorb at least twice the quantity of If quid in each drum.

All other conditions of Certificate of Complianca Ho. 6144 remain the same.

This authorization shall expire on October 30, 1986.

LY Transportation Certification Branch Approval Record Model No. B-2 Package Docket No. 71-6144 By letter dated July 10, 1986, U.S. Department of Energy requested amendment for shipment of certain radioactive materials, including liquids, to be shipped in the Model No. B-2 package (Certificate of Compliance No. 6144). The material is to be contained in 5-gallon plastic containers surrounded by absorbent material and further positioned within DOT Spec.17H or 17C 55-gallon druras. A total of six 5-gallon containers are to be shipped, two in each 55-gallon drum. The absorbent material sust be sufficient to absorb twice the liquid within each drum.

The staff has reviewed the additional contents for the Model No. B-2 package, and has determined that applicable requirefrent of 10 CFR Part 71 are satisfied. Since the intended shipments will be one-time-only, this authorization has been issued to expire on October 30, 1986 Original Signed by e453S 3. "'"
