Dr. J. Nelson Grace, Regional Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region II Post Office Box 2203 Atlanta, Georgia 30301

Subject:

Cancellation of NRC Region II/ Duke Power Security Interface Meeting Scheduled for August 10, 1988 Gentlemen:

In a letter dated July 11 1988 we requested an interface meeting with NRC Region II personnel to discuss recent Duke organizational changes in the area of nuclear station security. Due to _ travel limitations, Duke is requesting this meeting be cancelled. The need for the cancellation was discussed by telephone with D. R. McGuire of the NRC Region II office and A. R. Franklin and J. S. Warren of Duke Power on July 27, 1988.

As mentioned in our telephone conversation, please find attached for your information and use, several charts showing the new General Office security organizational structure now in place at Duke Power. The charts show the current assignment of security related responsibilities. As an alternative to meeting in Atlanta, we plan for our General Office security personnel to become more active in the interface activities associated with the NRC station inspections. This should provide an acceptable opportunity for these personnel to meet the Region II ser.urity staff.
