SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-416/99-01 AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION
Dear Mr. Eaton:
This refers to the inspection conducted on February 1-5,1999, at the Grand Gulf Nuclear
Station facility. The enclosed report presents the results of this inspection. Overall, the
radiation protection program was acceptably implemented.
Based on the results of this inspection, the NRC has determined that one violation of NRC
requirements occurred. The violation is cited in the enclosed Notice of Vio'lation (Notice) and
the circumstances surrounding it are described in detailin the subject inspection report. The
violation is of concern because the condition was identified by your staff in 1991, and actions
were not taken to resolve the issue in a timely manner.
You are required to respond to this letter and should follow the instructions specified in the
enclosed Notice when preparing your response. The NRC will use your response, in part, to
determine whether further enforcement action is necessary to ensure compliance with
regulatory requirements.
- In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NHC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, its
enclosure (s), and your response will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss them
with you.
