Subject:
Byron Station Units 1 and 2 Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 Human Factors Review NRC Docket Nos. 50-454/455 and 50-456/457 Reference (a): November 15, 1983 letter from C. Reed to H.R. Denton
Dear Mr. Denton:
Reference (a) contained Commonwealth Edison's commitment to perform a detailed control room design review (DCRDR) for Byrcn and Braidwood Stations Units 1 and 2.
Enclosed for your review is the DCRDR Final Summary Report.
Volutae 1 of the report summarizes how each phase of the review was performed, the personnel involved in the review and their respective qualifications. Volume 2 of the report contains all human engineering discrepancy (HED) findings, responses and proposed schedules for completing individual corrective actions.
Submittal of this report satisfies condition 1 of Attachment 2 of Facility Operating License NPF-37 for Byron Unit 1, condition C(6) of Facility Operating License NPF-59 for Braidwood Unit 1 and condition C(5) of Facility Operating License NPF-60 for Byron Unit 2.
The overall schedule for completion of the corrective actions is outlined in Section 8 of Volume 1.
The corrective actions will bo implemented before the end of the first or second refueling outage of each unit, after NRC t
approval of the proposed disposition of the HED's.
The proposed schedule for completing corrective actions is contingent upon NRC approval of Commonwealth Edison's disposition of the HED's contained in Volume 2 of the report. The schedule is also subject to the availability cf equipment, outage time for l
[: e each unit, and engineering design lead time.
Some problems affecting more l
'.c d than one emergency response activity may require an evaluation to assure that
$0-integrated corrective action is taken. These activities could also affect the go proposed schedule.
