Docket Nos. 50-327 Tennessee Valley Authority

)

50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - REVISION TO POSTRESTART SCOPE AND SCHEDULE FOR DESIGN CONTROL SYSTEM

Reference:

TVA letter to NRC dated May 4, 1988 In the referenced letter TVA revised the completion schedule for the design criteria of the safety-related systems.

TVA anticipated completing this work by May 31, 1988, except for the radiation monitoring system design criteria, which was to be completed by June 30, 1988.

This comitment included a total of eight systems.

The design criteria has been issued for four of the systems. Design criteria for the other four systems has not been issued.

The previous completion schedule was based on interface review and resolution of coments. However, the interface reviews required more time than originally anticipated.

This was because of the overall emphasis on unit 2 restart issues and the corresponding lower priority for the postrestart tasks. Also, the Interface and in-department review comnents were nore numerous and difficult to resolve than anticipated.

Summary statements of commitments contained in this submittal are provided in the enclosure.

Please direct questions concerning this issue to M. J. Burrynski at (615) 870-6172.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY he $.
