PORTSMOUTH GASEOUS DIFFUSION PLANT - DOCKET NO. 70-7002 - DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY APPROVAL OF A CHANGE TO COMPLIANCE PLAN ISSUE 23R On May 12, 1999, the Department of Energy (DOE) received a request from the United States Enrichment Corporation to modify the DOE-approved proposed Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS) Com Changes and Configuration Management (Reopened)pliance Plan Issue 23R, Plant
, transmitted May 10, 1999.
The request from the PORTS Plant Operations Review Committee asked for wording to clarify when a Nuclear Criticality Safety review is required for plant change requests.
DOE approves the requested change. On page 3 of Issue 23R, in the Justification for Continued Operation, paragraph 2, Design Requirements, change the second sentence to read:
"All recuests for engineering services involving plant changes are reviewec and approved by the Change Control Board (CCB) which includes criticality safety expertise, as required."
