in the Town-September ship Meeting Room at the Geneva City Hall, Geneva, Ohio, with the.
following members present:
Richard A. Pruden, Richard D. Borcicky and Peter A. Pasqualone.
7 Mr. Pruden moved the adoption of the following resolution:
RESOLUTION ASKING FOR THE DELAY IN THE START UP OF THE PERRY NUCLEAR PLANT AT 100 PERCENT CAPACITY.
Wheras, it is'the purpose of the Government to serve the people that it represents as a whole and not to mandate the wishes of a few; and Whereas, many residents expressed concern about inadequacies they felt were part of the emergency response plan, the negative effect on the community and their property values, and the lack of specific or accurate information regarding the operations of the Perry Nuclear Powere Plant, and Whereas, the Geneva Township Board ei Trustees feel the concerns need to be addressed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the State of Ohio and Governor Celeste's Special Committe appointed to investigate the safety of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, and the Ashtabula County Emergency Management Agency, Now, therefore, be it resolved until such a time when questions regarding the safety and operations of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant independent radiolo-have been addressed by the agencies, and that gical monitoring, under direct control of the Geneva Fire Department, be in operation, and that the present evacuation plan be reviewed and improved, The Board of Township Trustees of the Township of the Geneva, County of Ashtabula, State of Ohio, will not support start up of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Furthermore, the Geneva Township Board of Trustees also urge all regulatory agencies to delay the start up of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant until all issues regarding the safety of the plant are addressed, along with the involvement of the Geneva Township Board of Trustees in the S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedures for the Ashtabula County evacuation plan), be adopted by the Ashtabula County Commissioners.
2 The Clerk - Treasurer of the Board of Township Trustees of the Township of Geneva, County of Ashtabula, State of Ohio is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Governor Ri' chard F. Celeste, and to The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C.,
and to the Ashtabula County Commissioners.
Mr. Pasqualone seconded the motion.
Upon roll call on the adoption of the resolution, the vote was as follows:'
