DOCKET NO. 50-458 RIVER BEND STATION. UNIT 1 NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION FOR AMENDMENTTO FIRE HAZARDS ANALYSIS REPORT AND SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has permitted Entergy Operations, Inc. (the licensee), to withdraw its November 6,1996, application seeking approval for a deviation from its approved fire protection program to the extent the program incorporated the technical requirements of Section Ill.G.2 of Appendix R to Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Reaulations for the River Bend Station, Unit 1, located in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.
The application sought Commission approval for changes to the Fire Hazards Analysis Report and Safety Analysis Report with respect to the installation of a partial area automatic fire suppression system in lieu of a full-area suppression system in Fire Area C-16.
The Commission had previously issued a proposed no significant hazards consideration determination published in the Federal Reaister on December 4,1996 (61 FR 64385).
However, by letter dated December 17,1998, the licensee withdrew the application. For further details with respect to this action, see the licensee's request dated November 6,1996, as supplemented by letters dated July 31,1997, and April 13,1998, and EOl's letter dated December 17,1998, which withdrew the original request.
