Subject:

Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 Interim Operation of HVAC Systems NRC Docket Nos. 50-456 and 50-457

Reference:

(a) March 27, 1987 K.A. Ainger letter to H.R. Denton

Dear Mr. Murley:

Reference (a) provided filter test data for the Braidwood control room ventilation (VC) recirculation charcoal filters with a justification indicating a 90% filter efficiency is appropriate for control room dose calculations even though ANSI-N509 acceptance criteria had not been met.

Subsequently without any system alterations, additional testing has been performed and this letter provides the additional test data for the VC A train and B train recirculation charcoal filters airflow distribution and mixing uniformity tests. The results are summarized in Attachment A.

Prompt NRC review and approval of this matter is requested so the Braidwood VC system can be declared operable.

Please direct any questions you may have concerning this matter _to this office.

Very truly yours, 8704230174 870416 n
