STAFF EQUIREMENTS - DISCUSSION /POSSIBLE VOTE ON FULL POWER OPERATING LICENSE FOR CLINTON, 2:00 P.M., FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 1987, COMMIS-SIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C. OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Commission was briefed by the licensee and the staff on the readiness of Illinois Power Company to receive a full power operating license for the Clinton Unit I nuclear power plant.

Representing the licensee before the Commission were: -

- W.T. Kelley, President

- W.C. Gerstner, Executive Vice President

- D.P. Hall, Vice President The Commission, with all Commissioners agreeing, authorized the staff to issue a full power operating _ license to Illinois Power Company for the Clinton Unit 1 nuclear power plant.

Commissioner Asselstine urged the licensee to take a slow and cautions approach to full power in order to gain experience with operations.

Chairman Zech requested Region III to continue to monitor the licensee's maintenance backlog for positive trends.
