On March 5,1987, the New Hampshire House of Representatives, in session convened, adopted House Resolution No.17, urgina the Nuclear Regulatory Comission to deny the petition of Public Service Company of New Hampshire, et al., to reduce the 10-mile emergency planning zone in radius of the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant.

petition of Public Service Company of New Hampshire, et al., to reduce the 10 mile emergency planning zone in radius of the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant. ,

i 1 Whereas, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has adopted . rules te provide 2 for the protection of the public health and safety which require that the 3 plume exposure pathway emergency planning zone for nuclear power plants 4 shall consist of an area about 10 miles in radius (10 CFR 50.47); and 5 Whereas,- Public . Service Company of New Hampshire has - petitioned the' 6 Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Atomic Safety Licensing Board for an 7 exemption or waiver of those provisions of the Code of Federal Regulations 8 regialeing a plume exposure pathway' emergency planning zone in excess of one 9 mile in radius of Seabrook Station, alleging . that such requirements are 10 unnecessary; and 11 Whereas, the members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, in 12 fulfilling .eir obligation to protect the health and safety of the i i

13 citizens of New Hampshire, support the current emergency planning 14 regulations as a minimum acceptable zone of protection; now, therefore be it l

15 Resolved by the House of Representatives:

16 That the House of Representatives urges the Commissioners of the Nuclear

HR 17 1 Regulatory Commission to deny the December 18, 1986, petition filed by 2 Public Service Company of New Hampshire, et al (Docket Nos. 50-443-OL and 3 50-444-OL); and 4 That copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the House of 5 Representatives, be forwarded by him to the President of the Senate of the 6 United States, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United 7 States, each member of the New Hampshire delegation to the United States 8 Congress, and to each commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
